Side A Support
Side A turns Apple Music songs into cassette-style mixtapes you can play, save and send to friends.
What you need
- An iPhone running iOS 17 or later.
- Permission for Side A to access Media & Apple Music.
- An eligible Apple Music subscription for catalogue playback.
Common questions
Side A cannot access Apple Music
Open Settings → Apps → Side A → Media & Apple Music and allow access. Then return to Side A and try again.
A song will not play
Check that the iPhone is online and that the Apple Music account can play catalogue content. Song availability can vary by country or region.
A received mixtape has missing songs
Side A matches each song against the recipient’s Apple Music storefront. A particular recording or version may not be available in every country or region. Use Try finding missing songs again after checking the internet connection.
How do I send a mixtape?
Open a saved mixtape, enter the sender name, and choose Send Side A mixtape. The .sidea file contains metadata and song identifiers only; it never contains music audio or Apple Music credentials. A recipient with Side A can open the file and resolve the songs against their own Apple Music account.
How do I delete a saved mixtape?
Open the saved mixtape and choose Delete mixtape, then confirm.
